Exploring the Bounty of the Harvest
As the leaves have begun to change and the air has grown crisp, our nursery Harvest Festival celebration is in full swing at Rowans Day Nursery in Sutton Coldfield. This family-friendly event is a cherished tradition at our nursery, offering a wonderful opportunity for children to explore the sights, sounds, and traditions of the autumn season.
Throughout this month, the little learners at Rowans Day Nursery have been immersed in a variety of engaging, educational activities that celebrate the bounty of the harvest. From creative art projects to musical performances, each activity designed to help the children develop a deeper appreciation for nature’s gifts.
Vegetable Printing: A Colourful Celebration
One of the highlights of our Rowans Day Nursery Harvest Festival has been the vegetable printing station, where the children can use potatoes, carrots, and other vibrant produce to create colourful, textured works of art. This hands-on activity not only sparks their creativity, but also teaches them about the diverse shapes and colours of the fruits and vegetables we enjoy during this time of year.
Bringing Scarecrows to Life
In addition to the art projects, the children have also had the opportunity to work together to bring a friendly scarecrow to life. Using straw, old clothes, and their boundless imagination, each class has constructed their own unique scarecrow – a beloved symbol of the autumn harvest.
Music and Movement for the Harvest
Of course, no Rowans Day Nursery Harvest Festival would be complete without music and movement. The children have been learning and singing along to their favourite harvest-themed songs, such as the lively Dingle, Dangle Scarecrow and the ever-popular Fruit and Vegetable Song. These interactive activities encourage the little ones to engage with the autumn theme while having fun.
Giving Back to the Community
But the Rowans Day Nursery Harvest Festival isn’t just about the children – it’s also a time for our community to come together and support those in need. As part of our celebrations, we are collecting non-perishable food items to donate to the Sutton Coldfield United Reformed Church Food Bank. We believe it’s important to teach our children the value of giving back, and we’re grateful for the support of our families for their help and support.
A Memorable Autumn Celebration
We’re thrilled to celebrate the spirit of autumn with our Rowans Day Nursery family and can’t wait to see the children’s faces light up as they enjoy the magic of the Harvest Festival. It’s sure to be a memorable and meaningful experience for all.
