What to Expect at Rowans Nursery Open Week
A typical visit takes 15–20 minutes, but we’ll give you more time if you need it. We’ll walk you through each room, introduce staff, and show you a few examples of EYFS learning in action. You can ask about routines, meals and nappies, settling-in, or anything else on your mind. If your child comes along, they are welcome to explore alongside you.
A quick look at our day

- Lunchtime: fresh meals and calm space for rest.
- Afternoons: outdoor learning, story time, and wind-down activities.
EYFS learning, made visible
We keep learning practical and playful. You’ll see children developing:
- Communication and language through stories, songs and talk.
- Personal, social and emotional skills through turn-taking and teamwork.
- Physical development indoors and outdoors, from fine-motor play to climbing.
- Early maths and literacy weaved into daily routines and small-group time.
You can read more about our approach and values on About Rowans.
SEND, accessibility and individual needs
Every child is unique. If you have questions about SEND support, speech and language, or reasonable adjustments, we’re happy to chat in private during your visit. We work closely with parents and professionals and will explain how the Key Person helps tailor routines, communication and learning. If you prefer, we can arrange a follow-up call after Open Week.
Meals, allergies and routines
We provide fresh meals and snacks and can support common dietary needs and allergies. We’ll show you how we record information, share menus, and keep you updated. Babies follow their own feeding and sleep patterns; we’ll discuss how we match your home routine.
Safeguarding and staff training
All staff complete appropriate safeguarding and paediatric first-aid training. Visitors sign in and are accompanied on tours. Doors and outdoor areas are secure, and we’ll explain pick-up procedures and how we manage health, medication and accidents.
